Project: Titanic Memorial Garden

JobTitanic Memorial Garden, Belfast City Hall
Main ContractorJohn McQuillan Contracts
Description

The works to the Titanic Memorial Garden involved new landscaping around the existing memorial and the installation of a new 9 metre wide raised granite plinth, on which is mounted a bronze plaque listing the names all 1512 people who lost their lives on the Titanic.

This new memorial is believed to be the only of its kind. It was complemented by the installation of granite paving and granite kerbs in keeping with the historic exterior of Belfast City Hall.

Larsen BS7533 compliant Streetscape FJM, a fibre-reinforced, fast-setting, flowing jointing grout mortar, was chosen to allow quick, clean and durable installation of grout joints on the newly installed granite paving.

Larsen Streetscape GPM, a rapid setting gun applied jointing mortar which gives consistent colour and strength throughout the project, was chosen to point the granite kerbs and plinths providing finished joints highly resistant to freeze thaw action and mechanical cleaning.
